Beyond strange is the weird, beyond normal is paranormal, beyond paranormal is, ...what? Reality, the fingerprint of God or insanity staring you in the face.

Skinwalkers???

February 17th 2008 02:28
A recent movie, that I missed seeing in a local theater, was finally released as a DVD and I rented it from my local video shop. The title was intriguing, and I was somewhat familiar with its skinwalker theme. Sadly, what had been a portent promise of adventure ended up a miserable failure, as a movie, this tale left me wanting. But the premise for the movie is intriguing and as provocative as any paranormal tale can be.

There is a myth and mystery surrounding a remote 480 acre ranch in northeastern Utah; we’ll call this very real location, Skinwalker ranch. The local Native-American tribe, the Utes, referred to the area as the "path of the Skinwalker," and advised avoiding this land. According to their legend, a skinwalker is an "evil sorcerer," capable of shape-shifting and turning into various animals. Further, the Utes believe that the skinwalkers are very powerful spirits manifested because of a curse placed upon them generations ago by Navajos, and tribal members are forbidden from setting foot on the property.

During the period of 1994-7 strange incidents were occurring frequently and included the sightings of anomalous dark shapes, werecreatures, Sasquatch (Bigfoot), lights and various UFOs, as well as unexplained animal mutilations – cattle in particular, disembodied voices, poltergeist activity and invincible creatures. Some say that this phenomena has been documented for over 50 years

Imagine if you will an encounter with a wolf, the size of a small horse that was impervious to bullets, even though it was struck numerous times with bullets from a .357 handgun. And when you bravely follow the creature, its tracks suddenly and abruptly disappeared, as though it had just vanished into thin air. This is the staff of life that brings out the best in all paranormal investigating couch potato’s.

There is even a report of one event that took place in August of 1997, in which two workers from NIDS (National Institute for Discovery Science) witnessed a dull yellow light on the ranch that was close to the ground and growing bigger and bigger. One of the workers viewed the light through night vision/infrared equipment and saw what could not be seen with the naked eye. A tunnel of light was opening up, and a large muscular humanoid entity with no facial features crawled out of it, and then vanished. The two workers investigated the area and found no trace of the being, though there was a strong smell of sulfur. You know those folks were feeling super charged after that encounter.

It has been suggested by investigators, that the events at the ranch may have a "dimensional" aspect to them, as though the area is a "portal" of some sort. In fact, it was reported that the previous ranch owner, described seeing a sun-like sphere from which objects came and went, and that he could see another sky behind the sphere. So, there you go, research this story and enjoy.

So you can rent out a movie, you must be doing rather better than me here, not that that would be difficult.

My take?
Same as always on paranormal stuff - I gotta go 'feel' it for myself. If theres an interdimensional portal, you can bet I'll wander through it, or stumble right over it without ever getting a tingle. Whatever. I have to check it out with my own spidy sense before I judge.

I disregarded your advice and rented the movie anyway, as Skinwalker Ranch is such a fascinating topic.

Wish I would've listened to you. I'll know better next time!

Hey kleo, I didn't realize you made this comment, trust your own instincts on this sort of stuff.

Drat, I hate being right in this case Nat2, they had a great opportunity to dazzel us with a modern mystery and passed it by for the cheesy movie they opted to produce.
